One of the best torches I’ve used. As a DIY kinda guy this torch has been kept on charge and used whenever those odd jobs arise – working under a kitchen cabinet on plumbing, inspecting underneath the car, etc.
The rotating head and magnetic base are a game changer for being able to get the right angle for awkward work. Being able to secure the torch to something metalic overhead and angle the light for hands-free focus is a key feature. Both the “directed” end-of-light LEDs and the broad “area” light are bright enough at max settings to see comfortably, although battery drain at max levels is quite high – you might be able to get an hour at max brightness, maybe a little longer.
Meanwhile on slightly lower brightness settings you can get many hours of use before needing a recharge. I’ve worked many hours on my car as evening slowly becomes night and I’ve only had torch light to work by.
One key call out for this torch is its durability. In many years of use this torch has been dropped on to tarmac, banged, left in the rain, and even once was accidentally dropped into a bucket of coolant during a car service. I managed to retrieve it after a couple of seconds but it was enough for the whole unit to be submerged, yet it still works perfectly. The rubberised overmoulding is scuffed and scratched but is only cosmetic damage – surprising durability from a little unit. The rotating hinge is also in perfect working order.
One of those rare “no fault” products that just works, and works for years. 5/5.
